It was all about colourful, innovative flower structures and quaint little gardens, at the 28th Garden Tourism Festival in the capital. Organized by Delhi Transport and Tourism Development Corporation (DTTDC), the theme of this edition was landscaping and hanging plants, and saw various combinations of the capital’s horticulture.
The three day-long festival saw
Delhiites get a taste of more than 300 species of plants, including cacti, herbal gardens, tree museum, topiary gardens, zen gardens and aromatic gardens.
Inaugurating the festival, Delhi’s chief minister
Arvind Kejriwal said, “I’ve come to this place for the first time and I appreciate the tourism department’s initiative. It’s our government’s prime goal to make Delhi a tourism hub.”
Various government organizations also showcased their flower structures and gardens and competed with each other. There was a painting competition and a magic show organized for kids, while cultural performances entertained visitors. Anuradha Kesarwani, a visitor, said, “I’m setting up a nursery at home, so this is the best place to get information about flowers and to buy them from experts.”
Jitender Singh Tomar, Minister of Law & Justice, Home, Tourism and Art & Culture, Ramesh Tiwari, MD & CEO DTTDC, and Kartar Singh Tanwar, member of Delhi Legislative Assembly, were also spotted at the festival.
